Afton Caruana is a very hard-working single mother of two beautiful daughters aged 5 and 7, who successfully manages to juggle her work as an Alliance property advisor with other work she does, and her never-ending family commitments.
“I definitely couldn’t cope without the tremendous support I have from my parents”, she admits with an appreciative smile. “Working in real estate gives me the freedom to make my own hours and be my own boss, and although sometimes you work very hard with little result to show for it, I know that when the sale comes through, it all becomes very worthwhile.”, she continues.
Her first job was that of hotel receptionist, but she’s always been cut out to work in a sales. “I’m a very positive people’s person, who is generally very happy to get to know people and I strongly believe I can help them with whatever it is that I am selling to them”. She continues. “If it’s not good enough for me to buy for myself, then I just cannot sell it.”
Afton has been working in real estate for just over two years and joined Alliance at the beginning of this year. So she has had to endure the lockdown months and other difficulties that the pandemic has brought about for everyone.
One of her most enduring experiences is a sale she worked on for several months, where the vendor was being very difficult. She tried her best to open channels of communication between the buyer and the seller but found many obstacles. So much so that her client was beginning to lose heart. “In the end, my client had been through so much grief, that on signing the final deed she burst into tears of joy at having secured the home of her dreams”, she remembers contentedly.
Afton is a music lover and in her free time she enjoys playing the piano and practices Latin and ballroom dancing, apart from training to keep herself physically fit.
“My own recent house move has also given me insight that helps me understand my clients even better than before”, she explains. “Today everyone is so busy, trying to keep things together by working on many different things at once. This is why I try to be the most efficient partner for my clients”, she concludes.
