Meet Gordon Valentino
Gordon Valentino started his real estate career in 1991 when, at age 17 he joined a leading estate agency. From those very early days, he realised that an estate agency career was all about working hard and giving your very best in every situation. Going the longest extra mile! Primarily, he learnt that this business was about treating your customer like you would like to be treated yourself.
In 1995, at the age of 21, he had established himself so much in the south of Malta that the natural step was to open and manage an office in the South. Many of the estate agents who had joined this branch back in 1995 are still with him to this very day, and this is one of his greatest satisfactions.
In 2010, Gordon sold his shareholding in that company and moved to join Michael Bonello and Alliance as Partner and Manager of our flagship branch on Tigné Seafront in Sliema. At the time Alliance was still operating as part of an international franchise and Gordon’s team was always amongst the top performing from the entire network.
Fast forward to 10 years later and the new Alliance – Real Estate People is launched as an independent estate agency brand, with several branches around Malta and more than 150 property advisors. Apart from sitting on the board of directors and management team, Gordon’s role consists of running the branch with some 24 property advisors, who he trains, mentors and supports on an ongoing basis. Gordon has always believed strongly in people’s untapped potential and admiring them as they become star agents. This is what drives him to work harder every day.
The Alliance Tigne branch is located on the Tigne seafront in Sliema and its house is a prominent corner building that’s synonymous with the Alliance brand. The branch is managed by the Alliance co-founder Gordon Valentino, a highly respected manager with more than thirty years of valid experience in real estate.
The Tigne team consistently performs at the highest level and always did even while it formed part of an international franchise.
Gordon Valentino: I joined the industry at the age of 17. I was always under the idea that I was going to continue the family business and become a timber merchant like my father and his father, and probably also his grandfather. But although I studied to go to the university and become a lawyer, I decided that the only thing which really gave me vibe, which really intrigued me, which really excited me – was real estate. Greatest satisfiction… When you work hard you have a lot of satisfaction, but my greatest satisfaction is to have people around me, who have been with me through this journey since my first office in 1995.
I believe the best client to have is definitely the returning client. And this is what I teach and nurture my people every day. Having returned clients fills you with so much fulfillment and satisfaction that after all these years he comes back to specifically ask for you. This will fill you with some much excitement, because you know that whatever you’re doing you’re doing it right. And that’s why we push so hard on customer service. Because when you really help a client, when you really give him your best, when you really go the extra mile, he comes back to ask specifically for you.
I run the Alliance Tigne branch in Sliema. I have a team of 24 colleagues. On a daily basis my mission is to make sure that I train them, I mentor them, I make sure that they keep positive, I make sure that I am always available for them and I primarily make sure that whatever the walk of life they come from, I make sure that they will succeed into become star agents. I’ve been doing this for 30 years and at the end of the day it’s about who you mix with, at the end of the day, the people you surround yourself (with) will dictate who you’re going to become. And that’s what we create at Alliance Tigne, we create champions.
