At first glance Demis Tonna may come across as a tough guy type who would cast well in a gangster series like Peaky Blinders, but soon after you start getting to know the man better, you realise that first impression belies his genuinely caring, humble and gentle nature.

Dad of two adult children Shannon and Doulton, Demis is a 43 year old property advisor whose first job was that of a support worker with autistic children. He joined Alliance five years ago and is based at the Alliance branch office on the Strand in Gzira. “Having grown up children of my own, I specialise mostly in servicing first time buyers as I feel I can relate well to them and give them honest and reliable support”, he explains. “On the other hand, houses of character and traditional Maltese homes are my greatest passion in real estate though”, he continues and goes on to elaborate how having grown up in the UK, gives him a different perspective of traditional Maltese town houses, houses of character and farmhouses, and how he sees their potential perhaps more than the average Maltese person.
Asked about his most memorable experience as a property advisor, he relates the story of a young couple who had been looking to purchase the home of their dreams for a few months. “I managed to help them find what they were looking for and today they’re happily married, have a child on the way, and are still living in the same home and keeping in touch with me on a regular basis”, he explains, continuing, “Seeing the look on people’s faces when they finally find the property they have been dreaming of, is just priceless”.

As an experienced property advisor, Demis emphasises the importance of taking well-informed fast decisions, to both buyers and sellers. “I just hate it when buyers sleep on a decision for far too long and then they end up missing out as someone else would have put in a good offer that gets accepted before theirs”, he warns. The same applies to sellers, “if you have a good offer in hand and haven’t received any offers before it, then perhaps you should consider accepting it, even if it’s not the amount you were hoping for”, he concludes.

In his free time Demis regularly goes out cross country cycling, he plays football and practices and trains in competition boxing. He is also deeply involved in Malta’s pro boxing scene as organiser and promoter of prize boxing promotions and tournaments.
